Who founded Volna Global?
Volna Global was founded in 2026 by Samantha Jimenez. Her journey of service began at just 12 years old, when she was drawn to the joy and connection she saw among students in her school’s special education class.
“I knew I wanted to be part of creating that happiness. What began as volunteering in junior high continued into high school through Best Buddies, and soon became a lifelong passion that would shape my purpose and the work I do today.”
What did working with people with disabilities teach her?
“People with developmental and intellectual disabilities have an incredible gift for reminding us what matters most. They taught me to slow down, live in the present moment, and look beyond appearances to see the beauty in who someone truly is.”
“Volunteering also became a source of strength during challenging times in my own life, helping me find purpose, connection, and a deeper appreciation for the present.”
Where has she worked?
Samantha worked at Peppermint Ridge, a nonprofit in Corona, California, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in community care homes. She became a yoga teacher, combining movement, the mind-body connection and holistic living with her desire to serve, and explored natural building and sustainable living.
After working as a student aide supporting students with disabilities at Riverside Community College, she returned to nonprofit work as a Volunteer Director and Activities Director. “This became my dream job. I had the opportunity to create meaningful experiences for more than 100 individuals through yoga, art, gardening, dance, cooking, social outings, date nights, and so much more.”
“Watching people discover new interests, build friendships, and experience greater independence reinforced my belief that everyone deserves opportunities to grow, connect, and thrive.”

Why India?
In 2018 Samantha took a course with Giving University that deepened her understanding of generosity and the power of giving. Around that time she felt called to travel to India — “not simply to visit, but to volunteer and connect with communities in a meaningful way.”
“That journey changed my life. It expanded my perspective beyond the work I had known for so many years and opened my heart to the many different ways people and communities need support.”

How did Volna Global begin?
“I returned home with a renewed sense of purpose and a vision to bring everything I had learned throughout my life together: community, holistic living, education, accessibility, generosity, and sustainability. That vision became Volna Global.”
“Today, Volna Global is a reflection of my lifelong journey and the belief that meaningful change begins with connection. My hope is to create opportunities that empower individuals, strengthen communities, and support sustainable solutions that can continue to make a difference for generations to come.”
What does the name Volna mean?
“Volna” means “wave”. In Samantha’s words: “I believe we all have something meaningful to contribute, and when we come together with open hearts and a shared purpose, even the smallest ripple can create a wave of change.”
